Marianne Dugmore, International Board Certified Lactation Consultant

Marianne is highly trained in solving breastfeeding problems and any issues mothers and babies may be experiencing with breast feeding. She can also offer education and advice on preparation for breastfeeding before your baby is born.

Marianne grew up in Adelaide and undertook her General Nurse training at the Adelaide Children’s Hospital and Midwifery Training at the Queen Victoria Hospital. She moved back to Adelaide in 2013 after living in Sydney for 24 years where she worked at the Sydney Adventist Hospital in the Lactation Department there as a Consultant in a very busy Maternity Unit.

Her skills lie in the areas of solving breastfeeding problems and any issues the mums and babies may be experiencing, but also thrives as an educator and can offer advice on preparation for breastfeeding before your baby is born.

She is passionate about breastfeeding and about helping mothers to achieve the “skill” of being able to breastfeed their babies and give them this start in life. She believes that in our modern society breastfeeding can be a “challenging” thing to do at first, mainly due to the fact that we no longer grow up learning the skill from our family members as we would have in the tribal or community village situation. In the early days breastfeeding can present a new mum with issues such as sore nipples, engorgement, supply and settling problems.

A typical clinical session with Marianne would include an assessment of your current situation, help, advice and suggestions on solving any problems you are experiencing, time to discuss any other related issues, and then, as part of her services, offers free follow up by phone, text or email for as long as you require. She provides home visits, or appointments in her suite within our clinic, with ongoing support and follow up as necessary.
